eComStation is compatible with older OS/2 apps both 16-bit (from OS/2
1.x) and 32 bit.
The full version can also run REXX, Java, DOS, Windows 3.x, and some
Win32s programs.
You can install applications on the Demo version but since the operating
system is loaded in to a RAM disk any program groups or system settings
are lost when you restart, as are the program files themselves if you did
not install them to permanent storage.
This screen shot shows the Icon Editor and the Hardware Manager.
The eComStation Demo CD automatically recognizes and configures many
modern video cards, network cards, USB devices, and other devices.
The Demo CD does not support printing, but this is how setting up a
printer would look. You just drag a printer template to the desktop and
point it to the right port and driver. (The Demo CD lets you try and set
up a printer but it fails when copying files)
Printer drivers for eComStation and OS/2 are available from a number
of vendors such as HP.
Like previous version of OS/2, eComStation lets you "lock" the screen
to prevent other people from messing with your system while you are away.
Finally, shutting down eComStation. The full version of eComstation
includes a boot manager. Using "Reboot to" enables you easily restart in
a different operating system.
