install WMDC for your device in compatibility mode for vista

right click the installer for your os and choose properties

click the compatibility tab and check run this program in compatibility for and select windows vista in the dropbox if it isnt already

run the installer, it may seem like it didnt do anything but check your start menu and it will be there

if you have the creators update (if unsure assume yes) save this script and run it as admin

if you are unable to run the program install this as well then reboot

thats all, simply plug in your device and sync away and maybe get some stuff
