Please be aware, that quite some modifications, tricks and hints I describe on my pages require at least a bit of experience with electronic devices and some skills. I don't want to say you have to be a pro, but I am one and so things for me sometimes seem to be easier than they are in fact. Additionally I have a fully equipped workspace for all kind of electronic works. So, if you only start wondering whether you can do the one or the other mod, it might be better to leave it to a friend ... :)

In case you don't care or your unit is old enough, a little hint: The plastic threads in the PalmPilot cases are basically not made for frequently opening and closing the case. If you don't take care, you're 'cutting' a new thread over the old one and the screw looses its support. A good way to prevent that is to turn the screw slowly first to the *left* with very gentle pressure towards the case. You can feel a 'click' when it jumps over the beginning of a turn of the existing thread. Immediately after the 'click' turn the screw right (hey, that sounds like lock-picking <g>) and all the way in. It should work with very little force.
The above may sound pedantic, but I saw too many destroyed plastic threads  :-)

! Some parts are *extremly* small and sensitive !
It may sound ridiculous, but it's true. Some of my suggestions, like hardware modifications, require very good soldering skills and good tools. Be sure you don't heat up your old 150 Watt unregulated soldering iron you still might find anywhere in your basement. Modern PCBs require at least a standard soldering iron with temperature regulation (320-330 degree celsius is good average) and good solder with integrated flux that's acid free.

! Don't blame me !
I just don't want to hear, that you ruined your beloved unit because of my site. Thanks.
