And what set of screen shots is complete without a calculator application?
DIEX, a disk utility, is interesting in that it presents a mouse selectable
"menu". You can click on any item in this large menu to run commands, change
yes/no options, or edit numeric values.
The Alto disk images have a large number of games on them. Here is
a clone of Galaxian.
And of course it has to have Pac-Man.
Astro-roids, an Asteroids clone.
Note: Asteroids, and glaxian must be run using the "bootfrom" command.
And this is Maze. It is quite similar to the "Amazing" program on the
128k Macintosh Guided Tour disk.
The Alto equivalent of a BSOD. "Quitting" from the executive starts
a ram test, which was meant to be left running when the Alto was not in
use.
There is a "Smalltalk 76" disk included with the disk images, but it
does not seem to contain a runable copy of smalltalk. It appears to just
be a work disk.
And with all of the games that were included, there was no Maze War!
Hopefully any Alto collectors out there will eventually dump more disk
images before they are lost to history!
