RISC OS 4
Here are some interesting screen shots of RISC OS 4 in action. Thanks
to Chris Egan for these!
The RISC OS 4 boot screen.
The RISC OS Filer is similar to the Macintosh Finder or Windows Explorer.
The drive icons are shown on the icon bar at the bottom, as well as icons
of programs that are loaded. A minor feature I find interesting is that
you can have a texture in background of the file windows. And unlike Windows,
no Web browser is required to do this trick.
Another screen showing the Filer menu.
The icon bar at the bottom of the screen displays system and drive
icons, but icons can also be placed on the desktop using the pinboard.
The RISC OS task manager, which shows what processes are running.
Newer versions of RISC OS allow users to select the resolution they
want by specifiying the resolution attributes. Earlier versions required
the user to pick the resolution from a long list of mode numbers.
This Configuration app allows the user to change preferences and system
settings.
