Firefox 1.5
Unofficially Firefox 1.5 for Windows runs on several other Operating Systems:
Windows 95
|
Windows NT 3.51
|
Firefox also runs on good old Windows 95. This also shows Portable Firefox
on a USB Flash memory stick. (Yes, a USB memory stick under Windows 95.
I guess I wasn't listening when Bill Gates said that was impossible)
Firefox even mostly runs on Windows NT 3.51.
ReactOS
|
Wine
|
ReactOS is not anywhere near finished yet, but the browser is. This is
because ReactOS is a Microsoft Windows clone and runs most of the same
applications as Windows (or it will when it is finished).
The Windows version of Firefox can even run under Linux using Wine.
While there is not much point in doing that, it is interesting to
note that unlike certain other browsers you are 100% free to do that.
Third party contributors have ported Firefox to even more platforms:
eComStation
|
OS/2 Warp 4 (thanks to ppc_digger for this screen shot!)
|
There is a very well maintained OS/2 port of Firefox available for OS/2
Warp 4 (with updates applied) and eComStation
Sun Solaris 10
|
Sun Solaris under CDE - thanks to "TheWahbinator"
|
There are contributed builds of Firefox 1.5 for Sun Solaris 8, 9, and 10
for both Sun Sparc and x86 CPUs.
There are also ports for other Unix-ish operating systems including
AIX, FreeBSD, PC-BSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD.
BeOS 5 PE
|
|
There is a version of Firefox 1.5 still under development for BeOS. As
this screen shot shows, carefully designed extensions can run on Firefox
under any operating system.
Firefox is also available for BeOS Zeta, the current version of BeOS
from yellowTAB
SkyOS
|
RISCOS
|
Several other operating systems that have ports of Firefox in the works
include SkyOS and RISCOS.
