Some of them have been on my hard drive since at least 1995 and a few of these were even originally supposed to be included in Marswar but at the time weren't finished enough. I would like to think that one day I will do some more work on them and perhaps finish them or even add to them. I do futz with them on and off here and there, but I figure at this point I should go ahead and post what I have. I think there are some interesting level ideas here so I am posting these in case anyone else might be inspired by them. Most of these levels are nowhere near done and are mostly not playable. Most are horribly unfinished and many are just rough "layouts". If you wish to view the levels in Doom you will have to use various cheats to see the entire things. I will briefly describe the levels. Most of these were based on dreams I have had over the years (Yea, I dream of Doom) but for the most part I won't try to describe the dreams as they wouldn't make any sense. Most of the dreams were just of interesting structures and it almost seems wrong to fill them with monsters. Note that the names of the levels are just tentative names. Actually this WAD still shows the Marswar names on the intermission screens. All of these levels are intended to be single player levels. Map01 - The First DFIRST.WAD Loosely based on a couple of my earliest dreams I can remember. This level is mostly finished except it needs testing and tweaking. Actually just glancing at it now you shouldn't be able to jump to the ledges from the starting platforms in the open area. Map02 Warehouse Extreme DWHOUSE.WAD This level is based on an recurring dream I have about some kind of warehouse that appears to be on a top floor of some building and there is mechanical stuff to the back. And in these dreams elevators always seem to never function right and have bizarre appearances. This level is mostly done and I think it is pretty good, but again it needs some testing. Map03 - Rem Fire Works FIREWRKS.WAD Nowhere near done. This is level is based off of two different dreams. The first part is supposed to be a winding canyon inside a large block that is kind of just floating in dark space. The second part is supposed to be a pinkish marble building (needs a custom wall texture) with a river around it. The level is supposed to end as you enter an upper room in the building overlooking the river and there are supposed to be fireworks. Right now I have it just squashing a Romero head, but I could probably add some exploding barrels too. Some Zdoom or Jdoom special effect might be better but I like designing for plain Doom. Map04 - Death halls DHALLS.WAD This is a very old level and is a mishmash of odd ideas and various bits of dreams. Nowhere near done and it kind of sucks too. Map05 - Woody Doom (Wooded area) DWOODS.WAD Again based on several dreams. There isn't much detail but most of the layout I wanted is there. "Infestation" begins -------------------------- Map06 - Space Station DSHIP.WAD On this level the central computer has been possessed and has taken over the space station. You are supposed to destroy it and then evacuate. Weird. And incomplete. Map07 - Tunnely Cavey level TUNNELS.WAD Perhaps a little to tunnely. This level is also a kind of a mishmash of different ideas from dreams. I think some of the ideas had potential but might not play so well as a whole. Nowhere near done. Map08 - Carnage Pit DCPIT.WAD In the previous level in the middle of a bridge you are sucked through a vortex to a remote island. The rest of this level doesn't make any sense. Most of the bits of ideas on this level just plain don't fit together. This is also a much older level. Nowhere near done. Map09 - Cemetery Town DTOWN.WAD This level needs to be shrunk down some. The pit at the beginning is supposed to be some kind of dark construction area. Needs work. The area just before the exit is supposed to be a cemetery but there isn't any detailing in it. Map10 - Broken Quest (Ultimaish) DULT.WAD Ok, now the idea of this level is that you are supposed to defend this small medieval type town against some invading demons. Then you get teleported to a mysterious crypt where you have to retrieve some artifact from deep within. However once you take it, the universe seems to start falling apart! Well, that's the idea. The lower part is nowhere near done and it looks like the last time I worked on this I left some of the rooms disconnected (at the wrong heights). The universe "falling apart" is supposed to be represented by odd level transformations and techno type stuff appearing out of nowhere. My intention was to have this result in a slight "matrix"-ish feel. Map11 - Dark Castle Dungeon DUN.WAD This is an old incomplete level that I based my Firefox Party level on. Because my Firefox Party level used some custom textures I never got around to merging it back in to this large WAD file. But the final version, I don't think, will have the Firefox stuff on it. Funny enough that would make it more true to the dream I based this off of as the dream seemed take place just after some major event had happened there. Begin "city levels" ------------------------------ Map12 - Running for your ass RUN.WAD About 4 or 5 different sets of ideas from dreams just thrown together and unfinished. Not really sure how to make them work together. BTW, I sometimes use dead demons as place holders for real ones while I am building the level. This way I can see where they will start but not have to worry about them trying to attack. Map 13 - Disaster Area DDAREA.WAD A big half done level. This level is kind of big, but earlier versions were even larger. It is supposed to take place in some kind of post-disaster. Map 14 - The Can DBROOM.WAD Well, that's because you start off in the can. Starts off in a house and has several other buildings just thrown in there. Not much worthwhile actually done on here, very rough layout. Map 15 - Mall of Doom DMALL.WAD This level has a few interesting ideas. I think the wood bridge in the back turned out kind of nice. There is a lift that lowers you what seems like miles of floors of crates. This was based off an odd dream where their was a building with 256 floor above ground and (negative) 32768 levels below ground. As cool as I think that bit is I don't see that being useful for gameplay. Map 16 - Doomville DVILLE.WAD A small town that is supposed to be surrounded by forest. In the back there is supposed to be a tank that has plowed through the forest. Just a basic layout of a level. Map 17 - Shitty City DCITY.WAD Name sums it up. Not really sure how to make all the building ideas work together again. Map 18 - Surreal SUR.WAD This level is finished and playable, although kind of large. Originally this level was supposed to go in to Marswar as "The Fringes". Most of the layout was just pulled out of my butt and not inspired by anything specific. I kept hacking on this level bits at a time over the years and I finally think it is "done" enough. Map 19 - "Cumphs" CUMPHS.WAD A combination of a couple of odd dreams. I'm actually not entirely sure what all it is supposed to be! Mostly just level layout until I figure out what to do with it. Map 20 Juicer (boss level - home of the Fuitfucker) JUICE.WAD No, I don't dream of the Fruit Fucker, I just thought this would make an interesting boss level. You exit the level by getting juiced. Begin "Hell levels" --------------------- Map 21 - Castle Yankers (first level of hell) MCASTLE.WAD This was originally supposed to be Level 20 of Marswar. It was a very lame level with a pit where some big boss guys shot it out with each other kind of like the castle at that level in Doom II, except nowhere as good and mostly decorated with computer textures. I completely revamped this level relatively recently and made it halfway decent. It is mostly finished now although it still needs some testing. Map 22 - Hate HATE.WAD A small level with some general layout of a few dream based ideas I had. Map 23 - Hell's Specifications HELLSPEC.WAD This is a remake of another one of my Spear of Bullshit levels. I think it has some potential but right now it is nowhere near finished. Map 24 - Gore Sector GORESEC.WAD This level is retarded. I was experimenting with "floating" platforms. Would probably be worthless without some Zdoom specific features and would quickly hit the viewable linedef limit in older Dooms. This level is nothing but rough layout. Map 25 - Experiments in Startan XW1.WAD Back in the day I used to evaluate WADs for my brothers BBS. Early Doom editors defaulted to STARTAN3 and many levels made by beginners used nothing but that texture. As such I sometimes had dreams (nightmares!) about STARTAN3. This level was more of an experimental WAD and even still has a few room designs that I used in a couple of Marswar levels. Just some random layout. Map 26 Original 1984 1984.WAD This is another unfinished level that was supposed to go in to Marswar originally, but if you look at it you will quickly see that it sucks. This level is unfinished and hasn't changed much since I gave up trying to use it for Marswar. I keep thinking that I can clean it up and finish it, but I am probably wrong. Map 27 - School of Hell DSCHL.WAD Just some uninteresting rough layout. Map 28 You're Fucked (Island) ISLAND.WAD I actually had a dream about an entire island and thought I would make it a doom level. This level is probably too large again. I have some more ideas of things to add to it and how to detail it, but as always I just can't find the time. Map 29 Dreadmond DRED.WAD This is supposed to be Microsoft's campus in Redmond. It's just a rough layout, not really sure what to do with it (besides hunt for Bill and dodge flying chairs). Map 30 Time to Wake Up (Final level) DWAKEUP.WAD Starts off as the level from the Doom version 0.2 Tech Demo. Then kind of goes downhill from there. Map 31 Portals PORTAL.WAD Just the beginning of some layout roughly inspired by "Stargate". Although I don't think I can do what I really want to do with this in Doom. Map 32 Maze with office in it OFFMAZ.WAD For these levels you will need to use cheats or something to get to them: Map 33 "Flashlight" FLASHL.WAD Nothing to do with flashlights at all. Another level I dremped up, and I rather like this one. Would make a good deathmatch level. Still needs some stuff. Map 34 Breezeway BREEZE.WAD A quick prototype I think would make a nice deathmatch level. Map 35 Cliff CLIFF.WAD Well, it's a cliff. And not much else. Map 36 Circle of Death DMCIRC.WAD A big hole for fighting! Map 37 hall GHALL.WAD I was origionally envisioning this as a CTF level, but maybe not. Map 38 Hell Operations HELOP.WAD Another small DM level. Nowhere near done. Map 39 "Whirl" Whirl.wad Kind of a whirl of walls around an exit. Seemed like a good idea in the dream. Map 40 Invasion INVADE.WAD This prototype would make an ok invasion level I think. Map 41 Nukage factory Nukefact.wad Another factory type layout I dreamed up. Map 42 Pancakes! (Pancase) Pancake.wad I have no idea what you are talking about... so here is a bunny with a pancake on it's head. Well, I think putting that graphic on a wall would be funny. Map 43 Skull Warehouse Skulhous.wad Nothing big yet. Map 44 Slipship Slipship.wad An idea for a big snake like space ship. Map 45 Theater The.wad It's another level. Deal with it.
